The Bale Shui Ping Hu teapot quietly began its journey during the late Qing and early Republic period, slowly gaining popularity through the 1950s and 1960s. In those days, it became a key export item for Yixing teapot factories, continuing to thrive until the 1980s and 1990s. This particular Bale Shui Ping Hu teapot departs from the traditional spout design, favoring a gentle curve instead of the sharp edge. The flowing lines are softer, more graceful, with a subtle elegance that comes from simplicity. Made in the late 1990s, it features the popular Taiwanese-style Zhu Ni clay of the time. The clay is strong and firm, with a stone-like feel that resonates lightly in the hand. The body of the teapot is full and round, with a delicate, smooth handle, and the curved spout naturally extends with ease. Compared to the standard horizontal teapots, this one is slightly taller, with a more balanced center of gravity, making it more comfortable and pleasant to hold.

The teapot has a 120ml capacity, and the pour time is around 8 seconds—swift and steady. Due to the high density of the Zhu Ni clay, it is especially suited for brewing fragrant teas, such as lightly roasted oolongs like Anxi’s Sezhong, Feng Huang’s Dancong, and Zhangping’s Shui Xian. It also pairs well with refined floral teas like Bi Tan Piao Xue (Jasmine tea), Zhu Lan Da Fang, Osmanthus Jiu Qu Hong Mei, and of course Ta Xue Lan Fei as well.  With each pour, the teapot holds a quiet grace, and as the tea unfurls, it feels like a soft, quiet moment, delicate yet full of depth.
