The Shui Ping Hu, or "Horizontal Teapot," often called the king of Kung Fu tea utensils, originated in southern China alongside the Kung Fu tea tradition. In the quest for better tea flavor extraction, practitioners discovered that placing the teapot in hot water and pouring boiling water over its surface had an unexpected result: certain small teapots would float evenly in the water. This led to the teapot’s name, "Shui Ping Hu," referring to its unique horizontal positioning.
Crafted from meticulously aged Tiao Sha Pin Zi Ni clay, this Shui Ping Hu carries the quiet richness of time. Made by the renowned Ling Yan, it reflects the dedication and precision of her workshop, "Ling Yan Zhi Hu." With a 150cc capacity, this teapot embodies her refined craftsmanship, where every curve and proportion is carefully balanced. Its design is simple yet elegant, offering a smooth, effortless pour while maintaining a timeless charm in every drop.
With its classic, enduring aesthetic, the Shui Ping Hu is a coveted piece among collectors, prized for its historical significance and lasting appeal. It is especially recommended for enhancing the flavors of Minnan oolongs, Wuyi Yan Cha teas, aged white teas, and red teas.
